Total Viable Counts (TVC)

The recommendations of the H.S.E Code of Practice for Decontamination of W.Ds states that the rinse waters of endoscope washers should be sterile enough to ensure that the endoscope is sterile upon use. These guidelines recommend that the rinse waters be tested on a weekly basis, on all machines.

Medipure Ireland provides this service which includes all equipment for sampling, as well as training on the sampling procedure. The testing is also recommended on Reverse Osmosis water samples, to ensure that the water that feeds the machine is contamination free, and therefore is putting less strain on the endoscope washers, or washer disinfectors.
